Harness suggestions?

I am, as you can see, a small (and short) front-leg tripawd.I’ve never had a harness, but I have sprained a back leg twice in the past year, once after falling on the stairs, once after slipping on the ice.
As winter approaches New England and I have months of slippery going to look forward to, I’m wondering if a harness would help and offer some support from above in tricky situations, including stairs, some of which I just won’t try.
All thoughts and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Chuck (I’m feeling more like Chuck than Sato Charlie today.)

  1. Okay “Sir Chuck”, aka Sato Charlie…I think getting a harness for youis a very good idea snce you’ve already had some”issues” hurtinyour backleg.

Many peoplehere have used the Ruff Wear Harness. There are many options, just navigate the site and search for harnesses.
There are also booties for traction available. I have not tried either, but others who have will chime in.

“Chuck” you are one precious pu and I’m realy glad you are getting all the loving and spoiling you deserve! It’s never too late to havr a happy “pupyhood”!

    Hugs and love to all!

  2. Hi Chuck-

If you would prefer a harness that is a little lighter than the ruffwear, I went with a Perfect Fit out of the UK. It is fleece lined and comes in 3 pieces so you can get a good fit. It is not meant to be as supportive as the ruff wear, but it is strong enough if you have to lift on it some to help with balance or to help in and out of a car. Shooter was a front amp and the way this harness is built you can take it on and off without moving the remaining leg.

  3. Thanks for the suggestions, Sally/HH and Luanne/SS, I appreciate the input.
I will definitely check both out. I have looked at the Ruff Wear online, but I worried about the fit. Maybe Perfect Fit would be a better option.
As for the booties … we tried that once. Let’s just say there was blood after the trial and it wasn’t mine. (I’m very sensitive about my paws.)
    Thanks again!
